Usage tracking disappeared again

Internet usage tracking has disappeared from the account management page at https://secure.shaw.ca. It seems to me that this has happened a few times in the past when Shaw was making changes to the usage tracking system. Do any of the Shaw people know when it's coming back, or if it's moving somewhere else?

Didn't see this posted before... not sure when they changed it. I did a quick search and didn't notice it... if it's a repost, please ignore! http://www.shaw.ca/internet/compare-plans/ 10+ - $155 25+ - $160 50+ - $180 (The + Means unlimited bandwidth). I don't see unlimited 250 anymore... wasn't unlimited 250 only like $160? Prices just keep going up and up..

[ALL] Shaw Go WiFi

I am on the fence whether to allow usage of Shaw Go WiFi for my family. My main concerns are the following: 1.) Someone broadcasts their SSID as "ShawOpen" and records the registered device's MAC address. Attacker clones the recorded MAC address to get his/her device to other Shaw Go WiFi hotspots. 2.) Someone can spoof "ShawOpen" as well as the login page (I notice from the videos. The login credentials are stolen. Attacker uses the stolen credentials to connect to other Shaw Go WiFi hotspots. In both cases, the attacker gets free Shaw Go WiFi access, and at the same time, the bandwidth usage will count towards the victim's account. Victim might just have his/her data usage spike up without knowledge. Do you guys know if Shaw is doing anything on their end to prevent these scenarios? Is Shaw doing some form of rogue AP mitigation? or is it an open battle out there? I know that there is a Shaw Go WiFi app indicating the locations of Shaw Go WiFi hotspots, but the honeypot will most likely be located within these hotspots' proximity. Adding the fact that your device will auto-connect to an SSID of "ShawOpen", the Shaw Go WiFi app does not help much.

just me or is all programing SD?

I have been watching a fair amount of TV lately and I guess I have gotten used to the slightly stretched out look of every person on TV. the other day i turned on my Parents older TV ( they are also on shaw cable) and noticed that everyone looked normal meaning they didn't have the stretched wider look. is most of shaw have sd because I watched the same program on my samsung p2770HD tv and everyone looked fatter , is there some setting on the cable box that can fix this because after seeing what the programs are supposed to look like I really notice it . I do understand why shaw and other cable companies went digital it is because they can scramble the signals to non subscribers but man I am thinking that in general digital actually sucks , sure lots more colours but that stretched wider look is really starting to bug me and I really would like to fix that. At first I had thought that is was my LCD TV but I have noticed it on every other wide screen TV I have come across.

During the day, my speeds test in at the normal speeds as advertised with BB100 - however, whenever Netflix is being used at my house, my connection plummets to 5-9 Mbps. Has anyone run into this problem with BB100?

Are u there Kevin!

I asked u about a Refurbished PVR from Visions, just over a year it broke and would not load the PVR Functions and Instead just loaded VCR Timers. The box reboots when hit,,, by shaw not me,,haha. But still just loads the VCR timers. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r28883074-Shaw-PVR-Function So I am wondering who I could get to service the PVR. Now Visions says Shaw handles Refurbished PVR warranties. So I don't know who to seek Service for out of warranty box.. I was told by someone to schedule a Shaw visit to try and get the pvr working and they might replace it. But that doesn't sound likely to me unless I just don't understand they have come to love me from reading all my emails and web traffic:) . ! So unless you think I would have a real shot at a replacement, I doubt a home visit could fix it. Then I NEED A SERVICE DEPOT THAT COSTS LESS THAN 400.00

From the people who I talked to and some info I have read, there seems to be no agreement on whether or not Shaw Digital Phone is actually VOIP or not. Is it?

Salmon Arm

I and a few others are all having slow internet at night. A person who works at the same business is on a totally separate node and seeing the same issues. The 50mb connection drops to about 1.5 and stays that way for about 2 hours then gradually goes back to about 40mb. I talked to tech support who wanted to send someone to change the modem, I refused as if it was the modem it would do it all the time not just peak times 7pm until 9:30 10pm. My question is for Alex is Shaw going to address this issue or is it time to think about changing providers?

[AB] STB & Guide Time is not changing with DST

Hi All, None of my set top boxes guides and clocks have changed with the daylight savings. In the past Ive never had an issue with this, they auto set. I have two stb going now, one is the smaller cheap SB box and the other is a SD 2500 series (i believe) with the LED clock on the front. I power cycled the 2500 and still wont sync with the correct time. Anyone know what might be the problem? Has shaw forgot about DST in Alberta? :-\ TIA

[BC] Youtube issues

0
Youtube works fine if I never, ever login to a Google account. If I login to one of my accounts (e.g., to watch a video some troll flagged as mature content), my youtube performance goes to crap for several days/weeks. Logging out does nothing. I have any number of the following issues: - Videos do not start immediately. Have to F5 several times to get the video to begin playing. - Switching to 720/1080p will cause playback to freeze. Sometimes refreshing works, sometimes it doesn't. If I let the video sit, it will eventually begin playing in 360p, with the HD options grayed out. - Videos download "just in time," rather than going full speed until fully downloaded or buffering several minutes of playback. I want to emphasize that, most of the time, these issues are not present, and Youtube works flawlessly. When Youtube used to display average speed, I would see 70-80 mbps, and HD videos would download at 95+ mbps. But for a week or two after using my Youtube account, it feels like I'm on a public Russian proxy. I strongly believe that logging in to an account is the trigger for these issues, since I've observed this pattern many times over the years. It eventually goes away, only to come back the next time I login. Why does this happen? I don't understand why logging in has any effect; any network crippling would be IP-based, right? Anyone else experience this? edit: since someone will ask it, my speedtests are fine. 107 mbps from local. everything else works fine. My PC isn't garbage and isn't loaded with viruses. Cisco modem in router mode. firefox/java/flash updated.

Anyone know the specifics to what happened today in Southern Alberta? I noticed my TV was down and internet was SLOW. On BB250 my max since the outage down was 10mbps my upstream was averaging 12mbps, almost un-effected. Any one actually know what happened?
