[BC] XB6 In Bridge Mode Turned Off "Shaw Hotspot" BUT Now Seeing Hidden SSID

$

I am using the wifi analyzer app and noticed a new hidden ssid with strong signal in my house. Upon further investigation, it realized it was coming from my new XB6. It was really strange because XB6 is in bridge mode and wifi is suppose to be off. I have turned off Shaw Hotspot on Shaw's website and it turned off that ssid (i forget the name) and now this crap starts up. Anyone else notice this issue?

[AB] Latency with Blizzard Games

Hello everyone, I've been having trouble with blizzard games for the better part of about 2 years and have been unable to play Overwatch properly. So between Puma 6 issues (I'm currently using the XB6 on the 300 plan) and what I believe to be Blizzard server issues Its been far too long and I'd like to be able to isolate the problem and figure out the source once and for all. A Summary of the problem: In overwatch I get double animations and ability delay. I stopped playing it for about 6 months only to discover the problem was still there. I more recently tried World of Warcraft and to my surprise it had identical problems, where using abilities had significant delay. I'm not sure this is exclusive to blizzard games but it seems to be, as I can pretty comfortably play other games without feeling hindered. I've ran WinMTRs I'd like to show, as well as 'looking glass' tests from blizzard's end that I was hoping I could get a second opinion on. But feel free to correct me if that's incorrect. Is there anything that sticks out in the testing? I'm looking for any suggestions at this point. I posted this to Shaw's forums as well but I figured it might be more well received and unbiased here. Keeping in mind I'm just trying to find out exactly where the latency is coming from so I can make an informed decision on who to contact support-wise to figure it out. If you need more testing please feel free to ask and I'll post it right away. Note: I also tested it with a Telus connection and it had the same ability delay & double animations, so that's why I'm assuming this is a blizzard related issue from the start. I'm just looking for a second opinion because blizzard support keeps having inconsistent and random excuses mainly pointing to my ISP, they've blamed both Telus and shaw so far.

New address for Shaw services

Is there anyone that can help me communicate with the engineering services at Shaw? I recently requested a move to a new subdivision and was called by a CSR with the generic response "We are not able to activate services at your new address" and despite their friendliness, were unable / unwilling to look into the matter further. The street we're moving to is literally an extension to an existing street that has service, though the new portion of the street doesn't have any Shaw cables pulled (the Telus Fibre contractor was nice enough to show me the service duct and lack of anything besides their new fibre). I can't even get a rough ETA for when they plan to pull lines down the street (all underground services). Would appreciate any help to contact someone in engineering services; I've already contacted the developer but come up short there as well. Would prefer to maintain TV with Shaw, but if I switch I guarantee I'm not coming back.

Hi, I just ordered blue sky tv and Internet 300 and phone and was wondering if I got a good deal. Shaw is offering Visa cards and also promos for 6 months. I'm not sure if I qualify for those. I had 150 internet, phone and tv before and just ended my contract this month. Thats why I called in to switch my services and to get newer equipment and speeds.

[BC] Ping spikes on Arris XB6

I just switched to Shaw Internet 150 and I've been getting a lot of bad ping spikes when playing online games. When I'm playing something like overwatch my ping is around usually around 50-60ms, but like once every 30min or less I'll get at least one big spike up to 300-500ms that will last around 10-15 seconds, and in the worst cases I just get disconnected from the game. It also happens in simple online web games like slither.io, where it'll run fine for a while and then it'll just lock up for a good 10-15 seconds. This is happening on both my laptop (WiFi and ethernet) and desktop (ethernet). I didn't have any of these problems on the Telus Internet 25 service I just switched from. What can I do to try and diagnose this problem? I know there have been problems with Puma6 modems, but I thought the XB6 wouldn't be affected as badly since it's a Puma7 chip. Also, I don't know if this is normal or not, but in the modem settings, in the Shaw Network page, under the Downstream channel table, I only have indexes 2 to 13 locked. 1 and 14-32 are all listed as NotLocked/UNSUPPORTED. I've attached a screenshot of the full table.

Pretty bad for the last two weeks on my days off Shaw has to be doing one thing or another can you as a company do all this work in the middle of the night to keep your customers happy no wonder people seem to thing that your service sucks ... maybe on of your so called techs should be responding to the forums and no just sitting there eating donuts

BlueSky Recording Issue

Curious if anyone else is having this problem with BlueSky PVR playback where the recordings get stuck after approximately the first minute or so and you cant skip past that point. The issue seems to be limited to my recordings on US networks where the feed has been sim-subbed. The recording won't advance past the point where the feed switches. Instead it just loops. If I go try to play it the next day I'll get a prompt asking if I want to continue and everything is fine, but playback is impossible if I try to watch within the first 4-6 hours.

Hello, my name is Kane from Manitouwadge, Ontario and I'm going to first tell you my current issues / info and then I will work on further down the page to deeper issues that my town and I have been having. First off I'm using TekSavvy but it seems that 99% of the issue is Shaw's end so I think this is a proper place for it. My current issue: Upstream fails to Lock. It will go from Online then Blinking Download and Locking and staying solid then going to Upload that constantly blinks unless I assume doing the retry cycle and then it's solid for a few seconds then retries the entire process again. The Shaw Tech guy in my area came by and said my lines were perfect that people would kill for such a perfect quality. When he came oddly it was up for a brief moment (it does happen) then was down 10 minutes later. Oh he also added a Padding to my line between the modem and the line. He suggested to replace the modem I do so no changes after and before it was provisioned. Took them almost a week btw to provision it. I knew before it was provision it to put another call out. Last few days it's been down 95% of the time. Today the Tech guy instead of coming to my house Called and said there is not much he can do as their lines were perfect. I said well I'm not connecting and he gave me the most oddest excuse I heard something about TekSavvy at fault with bad provisioning of the upload on the modem.... I call it 100% bull and never heard such a thing. Either way he never came to visit or help me in our tiny small town and he lives here from my understanding.... Here is what the Modem is doing right now: Modem Info: DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem > [att=1] Some past screenshots: https://i.imgur.com/0zzubwr.png https://i.imgur.com/7VtZrlL.png https://i.imgur.com/VBZHiK6.png https://i.imgur.com/fbttyJb.png All he ever did was use his Phone to check on the status when it was online and working. He never used any tools to check the Line when he visited and of course the 2nd time he never showed up.. I then decided to take some screenshots of the setup from my house to the Pole. I also directly connected to the Line that goes from the Pole into my house so just one direct Line no changes. http://imgur.com/a/XXK0v2Y - The album http://i.imgur.com/tkUG7BY.png - The Odd Splitter not sure if I'm on this was hard to follow my line due to all the tree branches in the way. More History: Shaw brings in their Internet via a Microwave Dish that has been Saturated for about 3-4 Years. What this means is most the time we have 500-700ms ping and during peak hours we get maybe 0.5-1 mbps..... After 3 Years and a new company coming Shaw finally rented the Bell tower to install a much bigger and new dish and had put a conduit about 800 meters to the Shaw Tower. Today they activated this new Dish for the first time and people in the town are getting 15-30mbps finally. I'm sadly not due to a more localized issue. I decided almost a year ago when I moved here not to buy from Shaw directly even more so since was almost $100. So I went with Vianet knowing the Saturation issues would be a problem but I would get 30/5 speeds half the price almost. The upload was big deal as my loved one who has a Disability wanted to start a daily youtube series. For me it was also important as I done Youtube for years but it was more important in my heart for her. So after going with ViaNet TekSavvy finally came to our town and they said they can get me a 150 down package. I of course switched not for the download but once again for the upload. I think was 15 up or that was what they would offer. After weeks of issues trying get the old one disconnected and the new one connected with Shaw delaying tickets 5 days in between they ended up saying they can't provision that and only could do 75... Rather then doing this Shaw actually delayed waiting for a response lol. So I accepted the 75/7.5 I think it was with TekSavvy/Shaw as it's still better then ViaNet. Many weeks later Shaw downgraded me to 15/1.5 and said that 75 was never suppose to be given and I think from what I understand TekSavvy claimed it had never been activated that way..... Funny part is it was because I was benefiting from it... So Now I'm with TekSavvy with 15/1.5 speeds instead the 150/15 they sold me on or at least the 75/7.5 package I had or even worse off 30/5 I had with ViaNet... Nope Now I'm stuck at 15/1.5 and beyond angry... Then to make things worse after biting my lip for so long the last 3-4 weeks I had started having random internet dropping and here we are today me posting all this. Sadly the issues not solved and I'm so tired and angry and the worst part I'm so depressed and sad because my poor Girl is pretty much stuck in bed and she has no Internet not Netflix and we don't have the money for things like Cable TV, etc. So that is it she is laying there with nothing. Poverty Sucks Kids. Anyways this is my story and maybe someone can suggest something or even tell me what I did wrong or their doing wrong, etc. I'm kind depressed so even saying Hello would cheer me up at this point. Here is some stuff he said from our conversation when he called. I should of had posted these before. Some of these I have no clue on exactly their meaning but you get the idea. quote:I showed you the RF Levels up and down Your Signal Levels are Bang On When I put that Pad on it even your signal out. He said there was red before and then it was on it's Green. When it's green it means our RF is perfect. There is nothing else I can do, I can run brand new lines to your house it would not change. All I know and I know that for a fact you have a wicked signal going to your house and when he added the padding the RF was perfect. All he can tell and control is Signal and Signal Quality. I know my lines I know my signal and I know my RF and that is what I know and control of. So outside that he is thinking office is at fault. He said if he had a crack, brand, break in the Line he said he would not be able to move his transmit levels at all. I could put a 50? pad they stay exactly 54/55 they can't be moved. He can move his rf receives all over the place. Fact he can move his transmits with his receives tells him that my lines are perfect. He feels in the end it's the office level issue but he kept stating TekSavvy so I don't know if he means Shaw or TekSavvy but he seems very confident it's not his lines in Town..

[BC] We're sorry, this area is currently unavailable.

Ok, so I see the conversation about Shaw's poor upstream going on all the time and I'm confused. I see it enough that I'm breaking this out from other threads. Can Shaw offer significantly more upstream with their current network configuration with DOCSIS 3.1? Explain/justify your answer please.

http://shaw.speedtestcustom.com/result/f3a95320-f596-11e8-9bf4-eb3eb8a57908 This is my speed test on my workstation computer connected to a tp link router on gigabit lan. I also have a windows server 2012 box that is connected directly to my modem an xb6. http://shaw.speedtestcustom.com/result/474f5b50-f597-11e8-b5ab-6de2a8ffe902 This is the speed test from that box Now I am getting slow upload on my second ip (tp link router) lan computers and on my wifi devices too. So maybe its my router but then why can I get perfect download speed but not very fast up to 20 mbps upload? I talked to Shaw tech support and they said my modem was good and normal and I talked to Microsoft and they said its something with my connection. This has been happening for around a month or more.

Internet packages, need a hand.

a BC senior tossed me their bill to look over, it seems a rather steep. 25-meg unlimited 82$ The terms state that price includes a modem rental. No line item for the modem rental so the price is actually hidden. I looked at Shaws site, the speed jumps from 15-meg to 75-meg. Is this a joke? Does one have to call to check what speed tiers are available or is that the actually choice Shaw gives people? Did they eliminate all speed tiers in-between? Modem: Can someone not buy the modem outright? What is the actual modem fee? Trying to see how to lower the person bill, but with hidden fee's and no choices I find it rather... anti-consumer and anti choice. So looking for your feedback on keeping the same speed (or better) but lowering bill. No contract, but is bundled with TV. Will not do contract. Anyone ever get retention offers? Haggle a better price or anything? or should I just switch the person to a wholesaler and call it a day? ty

I am thinking of switching to Shaw for the 600 service. Is there new Advanced Wifi Modem bridgeable? My intention is connect my existing much more powerful router to it and use it as modem only, and disable the WiFi on the Shaw router. Is this doable. Do we get menu access on the Shaw Router? Does anyone have a link to the manual for this router. Thanks in advance.
