Homegroup problem with Hitron CGNM-2250 modem

I have 2 computers at home, both on windows 7, and both are on the same network and connected via windows homegroup, which allows for file sharing, streaming, etc, very handy. But ever since shaw replaced my trusty SMC D3GN with Hitron CGNM-2250, neither computer can detect the presence of the other computer on the same network under windows "network". Windows 7 network used to show this computer, the other computer and SMC D3GN router, now it only shows this computer, Hitron CGNM-2250 router, some mysterious computer named "intel_ce_linux", with no clue whatsoever about other computer(s) on the same network. Is there a setting on the router that I can turn on so that other computers on the same network can be properly detected? TIA.
