Hi all,
I was tired of overpaying with Telus and having $5 price increases every other month. So I finally made the switch to Shaw. I already had cable TV with Shaw but now I have all 3 services with them.
Got a good bundle price and some nice bonuses. Though I'd try them out for a few months to see if I like it.
My plan includes 25mbps Internet, Basic phone and Personal TV. Which comes to around $120/month not including tax.
So what speeds should I expect during the day with Shaw internet? Full 25mbps speeds? I heard that during peak hours you are lucky to even reach about 5 or 10.
Also, Shaw is providing me with a modem/router. From what I've heard form others, apparently these ISP provided modems/routers are crap. Any recommendations for a good/decent router under $30? I just need a simple plug-and-play router. Nothing fancy like firmware modding...etc. If it helps, we have 3 computers, and various WiFi enabled devices.
If Shaw doesn't work out, I'll probably move to Teksavvy.
PS. I'm in Richmond, BC.
Thanks!
