Shaw cable and the new Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 DNS service

I've tried this on my Hitron CGNM-2250 router and it appears to work perfectly fine until what I will call a heartbeat rejects the DNS 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 or 2606:4700:4700::1111 and 2606:4700:4700::1001 and stops my internet service. I understand that I pay Shaw for them to provide me a service but with said service I should be allowed to utilize any DNS service I so chose. I would like to know if other Shaw users have found the same results I have.
