[ON] Modem Differences? (XB6 vs. Cisco DPC3848v)

I just re-subscribed to the student deal shaw had (internet 300). Last year I had the XB6 Modem, but today without knowing I was given the Cisco DPC3848V modem. Is there any difference between the two modems? I see the XB6 is DOCSIS 3.1 compatible and the Cisco is only 3.0. The XB6 also has wireless 802.11ac Wave 2 MU-MIMO. I will be using the router functionality and really enjoyed the performance of the XB6. Are both comparable for wireless specs? Can I just return to the store and ask for a XB6 no questions asked?
